Purpose.

This paper will explore the following research questions:

  1. What training components are used in paraprofessional training and what is the frequency of those components?

  2. What is the level of fidelity or treatment integrity of training programs for paraprofessionals?

  3. What  is the frequency of different behavior based strategy interventions in the paraprofessional training literature?

  4. What is the methodological quality of the paraprofessional training literature?

Method.

This literature review will use the following inclusion criteria:

  1. Manuscripts must be published in English

  2. Used an experimental design (single case, quasi-experimental with a control group, or random control trial)

  3. Participants being given the intervention were identified as paraprofessionals or teaching assistants whose primary work responsibility was working with students with identified disabilities.

  4. The training intervention is on student behavior interventions.

Search was not date restricted or limited to peer-review articles.

Preliminary Findings.

Using Proquest, the Psychinfo and Eric databases were searched with the following search terms:
